Let me open this by saying that I do not believe that Jesus wants us to use marijuana to be stoned off our ass all day. In many religions, marijuana is used to become more spiritual.. to leave the human world and find higher meaning, to open the horizons of your mind to unimaginable vast regions, such as when Native Americans would travel into the woods trying to find their spirit animal using peyote. However, it does specifically mention that drinking alcohol is not supported, though is beneficial for the depressed. This is provoking because the argument for alcohol being legal over cannabis is that it is mentioned in the Bible, though discouragingly if you re-read. He did encourage being filled with the spirit, which we later will realize means using cannabis to become closer to God after reviewing different quotes. Remember, there were no words to describe inhaling at this point, so instead “eat” or “drink” were used. Also, being possessed usually meant someone was sick or ailing and the demon being exorcised refers to the disease itself.
7Let him drink and forget his poverty And remember his trouble no more. 8Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all the unfortunate. 9Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord
Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
20Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe one with rags
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the Cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat: for they drank of that Spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Acts 2: 2-17
2And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.7They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?13But others were mocking and saying, “They are full of sweet wine.”14But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. 15″For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day17’AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,’ God says, ‘THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS
In Genesis, God gave us permission to use every plant on earth, which would definitely include marijuana since it has been naturally growing for over ten thousand years at least. There are about 6 strains that naturally grow in each country, but as the DEA runs around and roots them up, this becomes less popular. He even predicted that there would come a time when hypocrites would tell us to refrain from the gifts of God. Our God is forgiving; he does not believe in these hellish drug wars. We should all work together and get along. What goes into your body is not what defines you, but what comes out of it (for example when you speak ugly words)
29Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; 30and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.
1But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth
Then came Peter to him and said, “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, “I say not unto thee until seven times: But until seventy times seven.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness’ sake: For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The King shall answer and say unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, ye have done it unto me.
If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
“Beware the scribes which desire to walk in long robes and … the highest seats in the synagogues and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour widows’ houses, and for a show make long prayers: They shall receive greater damnation.”
Thy commandments are faithful: They persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
He said unto them, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s and unto God the things which be God’s
The Apocalypse of Peter
“And there shall be others of those who are outside our number who name themselves bishop and also deacons, as if they have received their authority from God. They bend themselves under the judgment of the leaders. Those people are dry canals.”
Matthew 15: 17-18
17Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? 18But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
Jesus was a rebel; many people did not like him back then. One of the most frustrating things that Jesus did was heal on the Sabbath when everyone should be rested. Jesus did not care what others though though and was more concerned with the good of his people. Jesus also was known for being the one to come in and baptise with the holy anointing oil containing cannabis, which you will find the recipe towards the end if the passage. Others specifically mentioned that they would not be able to fill with the spirit, but Jesus can. Jesus was named The Christ after he did this, which means the anointed one. Let me mention again that the anointment oil contains a lot of cannabis.
For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
16John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
7And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals. 8″I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know. 27It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.
33I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
“At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn, and his disciples were hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. 2) But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day 3) But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungered, and they that were with him? … 10) And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered, And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11) And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it and lift it out? 12) How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13) Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. 14) Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. 15) But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence, and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; 16) And charged them that they should not make him known.
Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. 2 And they watched Jesus,1 to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. 3 And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” 4 And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5 And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.
Luke 13: 10-17
10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.
One important thing to note is that by this time, they did not invent a word for inhaling, so eating and drinking were used instead. It is funny to notice that almost every time you see God or Jesus appear from somewhere, they are accompanied by smoke. In some cases, the disciples could only see God after incense were already lit and smoking. Sounds to me like they needed a little green courage before God appeared. God even commands that the disciples use this incense and angels will bring it to them as well.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all the kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. 16 And the glory of the Lord abode upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart. 2 And he was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 When yet he spake, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.16And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.18And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly
And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke
7Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever. 8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.
Oil and perfume make the heart glad, So a man’s counsel is sweet to his friend.
17 Each of you must bring a pan, put incense in it, and present it to the Lord. There will be 250 pans for the leaders and one pan for you and one pan for Aaron.18 So each man got a pan and put burning incense in it. Then they stood at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. Moses and Aaron also stood there. 19 Korah also gathered all the people together at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. Then the Glory of the Lord appeared to everyone there.Exodus 30:23-25
23 “Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels[a] of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels[b] of kaneh bosm, 24 500 shekels of cassia—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin[c] of olive oil. 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil
13And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them
2The LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat. 12″He shall take a firepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring it inside the veil13″He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the ark of the testimony, otherwise he will die
He teaches your precepts to Jacob and your law to Israel. He offers incense before you and whole burnt offerings on your altar.Revelation 8:3-4
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense of the prayers of all the saints, that he should offer upon the golden altar which was before the throne.4 And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
He lighted the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 26Then he placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the veil; 27and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses29He set the altar of burnt offering before the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.34Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 36Throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out
For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
I used the quote below to represent that even in the bible, people have been using drugs improperly. Leah basically purchases a prostitute with mandrakes. Though these women could have just believed that the mandrakes increase fertility, but today we know that mandrakes have hallucinogenic, out of body effects.
Genesis 30: 14-16
14Now in the days of wheat harvest Reuben went and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.” 15But she said to her, “Is it a small matter for you to take my husband? And would you take my son’s mandrakes also?” So Rachel said, “Therefore he may lie with you tonight in return for your son’s mandrakes.” 16When Jacob came in from the field in the evening, then Leah went out to meet him and said, “You must come in to me, for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he lay with her that night.
Many of the miracles that Jesus performed could have just as easily and as realistically be done using cannabis, especially since cannabis has been used as medicine for tens of thousands of years and is regarded as one of the most healing plants by ancient Asian medicine such as glaucoma, skin disease, menstruation and more. Lepers in the bible are now believed to have had pruritus, also cured by cannabis. Another vocabulary mishap to take in account when reading old texts is that when they are claiming to be exercising out a demon, they usually are just curing an ailment.
The term which specifically referred to cannabis in the bible was kaneh bosm, deriving from possibly the Hebrew kannabus could have been picked up through Semite travels through Asia minor or through the neighboring Medes. Zoroastrian Magi greatly influenced Jewish culture, a religion known for using psychoactive drinks and the concept of heaven and hell, conspicuously missing from the Old Testament. An archaeological dig in Bet Shemesh near Jerusalem confirmed cannabis use as a pain relieving aid in child bearing as an inhalant and a topical dating back to the fourth century.
Many religions could’ve gained inspiration from Mediterranean mystery schools who worshiped a dying and resurrecting godmen born in front of three shepherds December 25. This is similar to Jesus, Horus and more. Jesus, Horus and Mithras were all spiritual masters with twelve disciples performing miracles and baptisms and were all crucified and resurrected, though others experienced different deaths. Ancient pagans also worshiped an angel from heaven who promised to return and judge the dead via a symbolic meal of bread and wine. This is relevant because it shows how other religions all bounce off each other for ideas. The concept of Hell was curiously missing from the Old Testament, leading one to believe that it was picked up from another religion.
There are also astrological references in the Old Testament and the 12 disciples originally represented the zodiac. The cross has been used in astronomy to represent wisdom and has been shown in Roman graffiti art to show a donkey becoming human and is also shown on a talisman with a similar human figure dawning it with the moon and stars, but the caption reads “Orpeus becomes a Bacchoi” This is a character in Donysian mystery and it says he is becoming enlightened.
When Jewish kingdoms fell and Christians rose in Roman empires, Constantine, in an attempt to control their numbers, obliterated much of the Christian texts from a vast library, leaving what was left in the New Testament. This was only the beginning however, and other religious evidences would be wiped out by the Romans who informed citizens that unedited texts were plagiarized by Satan. Peasant Mohammed Ali would later find Gnostic texts in 1945, unknowingly using the priceless gospels as kindling. These missing texts were more focused on spiritual salvation and showed a different light on Jesus as well as many other biblical characters.
Apparently, the Bible is supposed to be a mystery and only the chosen few should know all the answers, according the Gnostic texts, which was forgotten after it’s destruction and now the texts are only considered valid by some religious sects. From the Gnostic ashes came the Sufi movement, where poet Fuzili recorded the story of a disciple whose sheik felt that he reached the ultimate level of perfection through consumption of hashish and was no longer in need of guidance. You can find all of the existing Gnostic texts here
In summary, cannabis is used in biblical times for baptism and healing as it has been used for thousands of years. God does not discourage the use of cannabis, but celebrates it. The higher you are, the closer you are to God. Don’t take advantage though and just be a drug head; use your enlightenment to inspire others and do great things; like Jesus.
